The Fish Contaminant Monitoring Program is part of MDEQ's comprehensive water quality monitoring strategy. Edible portion fish contaminant data are used by the MDCH to develop the Michigan Fish Advisory. Whole fish data are used to track contaminant trends and caged fish data are used to identify sources of pollutants and evaluate spatial trends of contaminant concentrations.
The MDEQ produces annual reports describing the results of fish contaminant monitoring conducted in the waters of the state. However, this site provides raw data without interpretation, conclusions or recommendations. Please contact Mr. Joe Bohr at bohrj@michigan.gov or (517) 373-4704 if you would like additional information about the data available on this site.
