Learn about what causes Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO), Retention Treatment Basin (RTB), Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) and other types of discharges.


 Locate a CSO/RTB Facility

Search our database to find out which facilities may discharge wastewater under a CSO or RTB permit.


 Search for Discharge Information

Search our database for information about specific discharges. A search may be performed by either the receiving water, county of discharge, or by the responsible entity.


 Display Info about Recent Discharges

Facilities are required to notify the MDEQ within 24 hours when a discharge begins. After the discharge ends, the facility must submit a complete report including the locations and volume of the discharge. Use this link to locate information about events where MDEQ has not yet received a complete report.


 Report a Discharge (RTB/CSO/SSO/Other) Form, updated 1/2012

Use this link to download the Microsoft Word Event Reporting form. This form should be used by municipalities or legal entities responsible for reporting a sanitary sewer overflow.
