CONTESTED CASE HEARING BEFORE THE SUPERVISOR OF WELLS, COMPLIANCE STAFF, GEOLOGICAL SURVEY DIVISION, BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, KALKASKA COUNTY. Cause No. (A) 1-1-01. Petitioner seeks an order of the Supervisor of Wells requiring compliance with Part 615, Supervisor of Wells, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, by Texas Western Reserves Oil Company, Inc., d/b/a Western Reserves Oil Company, Inc., and Sullivan and Company, at the State Blue Lake 1-4 well (PN 36115). A pre-hearing conference on this matter was held on February 22, 2001. The well is located in the NE1/4 of SE1/4 of NW1/4, Section 4, T28N, R5W, Blue Lake Township, Kalkaska County. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s Environmental Assistance Division and the Michigan Institute of Laundering and Drycleaning (MILD) present this seminar to update the dry cleaning industry on environmental, safety, and health regulations. MILD staff will provide an update on association activities. FUNDING FOR WATERSHED AND STORM WATER PROJECTS SEMINAR, MIDWAY HOTEL-BEST WESTERN, LANSING, MICHIGAN. The Watershed Management Committee of the Michigan Water Environment Association and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality are jointly presenting this seminar on how government entities can obtain funding for watershed and storm water projects through federal and state grants, as well as private foundations. With current and upcoming storm water regulations requiring the allocations of nonfunded monies for Best Management Practices, as well as Watershed Management Plans, this seminar will provide a roadmap to obtaining funding from a wide variety of sources. TOXIC CHEMICAL RELEASE INVENTORY (SECTION 313) REPORTING WORKSHOP, EMERGENCY PLANNING AND COMMUNITY RIGHT-TO-KNOW (EPCRA), SARA TITLE III, AMWAY GRAND PLAZA HOTEL, GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN. This one-day workshop on the Toxic Chemical Release Inventory reporting for 2000 is cosponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the DEQ’s Environmental Assistance Division. The workshop is designed to acquaint the attendee with the requirements of EPCRA Section 313 and Section 6607 of the Pollution Prevention Act. The workshop content will emphasize reporting requirements and how to fill out a Form R report. Updates on reporting requirements, particularly on the changes concerning persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBTs) chemicals, will also be covered. This workshop is free and available to the first 100 registrants. The U.S. EPA Region 5 office will be accepting registrations by mail or fax. REGULATIONS 101 – AN ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY, AND HEALTH COURSE. The Michigan Departments of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Consumer and Industry Services (CIS) are offering a Regulations 101 – Environmental, Safety, and Health course at various locations throughout the state. The course is an introduction to environmental, health, and safety regulations affecting Michigan’s manufacturing industry. The textbook, "Michigan Manufacturers’ Guide to Environmental and Safety and Health Regulations," will be provided to course participants. Written by program specialists in the DEQ and CIS, the book is packed full of easy-to-read discussions about state and federal environmental rules. The book also summarizes MIOSHA’s safety and health programs.
