Written comments are being accepted on a draft remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) for Phase 1 of the Allied Paper, Inc./Portage Creek/Kalamazoo River Superfund site of environmental contamination. Phase 1 encompasses an area of the Kalamazoo River extending from Morrow Pond to Calkins Dam. The RI includes results of the Phase 1 river investigation, and the FS details remedial alternatives proposed by the potentially responsible parties (PRP) for river cleanup. Consultants for the PRPs for this site prepared the RI/FS, and the document is being reviewed by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. EPA.
