On June 25, 2007, R 336.1802a, R 336.1803, R 336.1821 to R 336.1826, and R 336.1830 to R 336.1834 (Rules 802a, 803, 821-826, and 830-834) were filed with the Secretary of State and went into effect immediately.  These rules have been developed to meet requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) to reduce transported emissions of oxides of nitrogen from electric generating units and large non-electric generating units.  The rules will be submitted to the EPA as part of the Michigan ozone State Implementation Plan.  For further information regarding the rules, see the links below.

The Request for Rulemaking for Part 8, Emission Limitations and Prohibitions--Oxides of Nitrogen, Rules 802a-834, was approvd by the State Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules (SOAHR) on June 6, 2005, and a public hearing was held on April 2, 2007.
